Da Tykoon. Born in San Francisco, CA and raised in the infamous Bay Area streets, Da Tykoon embarked on his music career at the age of 12. By age 17, he had signed to San Francisco’s own Big War Records; however he was forced to put his career and dream on hold due to financial situations that ultimately led to a few incidents with law enforcement. From that point he set out to make positive changes in his lifestyle and against all odds, Da Tykoon was able to rise above the negativity and concentrate on perfecting his skills as an artist.
In 2005, Da Tykoon received the exposure he needed to capture an audience willing and ready to hear his story. His break came when he was featured on a mixtape released by “Da Loose Cannonz” of Mercenary Entertainment. In 2006 he released his first solo mixtape, “Da Blueprint 4.15” and followed it with four more in the next 9 months! The focus and direction of Da Tykoon and his music has remained true to the streets and more importantly true to life by exposing the world to independent money, hustling, survival, and the entrepreneurial mind; the elements which compose street life. Hard work and determination led Da Tykoon to release his debut album in December of 2007 entitled “It Was All a Dream”, a statement to the world announcing his new reality.
Having had the opportunity to perform and tour with hot west coast artists such as Snoop Dogg, JT the Bigga Figga, Mistah F.A.B., TurfTalk, Hollowtip, Sean-T, Biaje, and Beeda Weeda; Da Tykoon has showcased an infinite amount of talent and the dynamic work ethic needed to succeed in the entertainment industry. With the launch of his company, Outt Da Gutta Multi-Media in 2007, Da Tykoon opened the door to network with various business entities. Collaborating with artists established in various genres, he positioned himself to be recognized as a figure in the west coast music scene, leading to the drop of two new projects in 2008. The “It’s About Time” mixtape with DJ Walt Thizzney, a.k.a. Alex Mac, of the Bay Area’s KCRH 89.9 FM and the “As We Hustle Thru the Valley of Death” mixtape with Yung Steve of the Slip-N-Slide DJ’s in Australia.
Da Tykoon continues to make waves in the music and entertainment industries with his sharp business tactics and innovative techniques in marketing. In 2008, following his 2007 release of “It Was All a Dream”, he re-released a special edition of the album as a custom MP3 player and in 2009 launched his website www.DaTykoon.com. With new projects in the making, such as the “Back to Da Blacktop” compilation, sophomore album “Get On Ya Grind”, and even a documentary film entitled “Makin’ Movez”, we will continue to amazed and entertained by Da Tykoon. We have no choice but to look forward to watching his career unfold as he continues to make major moves that will further add to his repertoire…
